Find your line

Which line are you on?

Three kinds of client, three different sets of dates and duties. Find yours and the rest of this page makes a lot more sense.

  • Sole trader One self-assessment return a year, no Companies House filing — the simplest place to start. See what applies
  • Limited company Statutory accounts, a corporation tax return, and a salary/dividends split worth getting right. See what applies
  • Landlord Rental income, allowable expenses and the mortgage-interest rules, done properly every year. See what applies

Know the number, not just the promise

What would you actually take home?

Salary, dividends, or both — see the income tax, National Insurance, dividend tax and what actually lands in your account, worked out live as you type. It runs entirely in your browser: nothing is sent anywhere, and nothing is stored.

How the year runs

The tax year, quarter by quarter.

Every client's year runs on the same clock. This is where the fixed fee actually goes.

  1. Q1 6 Apr – 5 Jul

    New tax year opens

Payroll resets, new allowances apply, and we agree the year's fixed fee before it starts.

  2. Q2 6 Jul – 5 Oct

    Mid-year check-in

A halfway look at profit and tax set-aside, so nothing about the bill is a surprise later.

  3. Q3 6 Oct – 5 Jan

    Return prepared

Records finalised and the self-assessment return drafted, well ahead of the January rush.

  4. Q4 6 Jan – 5 Apr

    Filed & settled

Return filed, tax paid, and next year's numbers already sketched before this one closes.

An accountant going through a client's figures across a desk, with a calculator and papers to hand.

Across the desk, all year

A real person who knows your numbers.

Not a portal you shout into. A named accountant who picks up the phone and already knows your figures.

Reconciled, not just promised

The numbers add up.

Asked & answered

Before you call, read this.

All questions →
How do I actually switch accountants?

We do almost all of it. We write to your previous accountant for a simple handover and pick up your records from there — you don't need the awkward conversation, and there's no gap where nothing's being looked after.

What is Making Tax Digital and does it affect me?

HMRC's requirement to keep digital records and file through approved software. It already applies to VAT, and is extending to income tax for the self-employed and landlords above a threshold. If it applies to you, it's part of the fixed fee, not an extra project.

What happens if I miss a deadline?

Self-assessment carries an automatic £100 penalty the day after 31 January, rising the longer it's outstanding, plus interest. The deadline rail above exists so that never becomes a surprise.

How does the fixed monthly fee work?

One number, agreed before we start, covering bookkeeping, accounts, returns and reasonable ad-hoc questions. Set from your turnover and complexity on the free first call, reviewed once a year.
